Predator Free Waikanae is a collaborative effort between a group of dedicated volunteers passionate about protecting our local environment. Each member brings unique skills and a shared commitment to restoring Waikanae’s native wildlife.
Our Vision
Our Vision for Predator Free Waikanae
Inspired by the success of Predator Free Wellington, we’re
bringing this bold initiative to our own backyard. Our mission is to make
Waikanae a thriving, predator-free sanctuary—one trap at a time.
With the support of our community, we aim to install 1,000
traps over the next three years to control rats and other predators. Every
predator we remove gives our native birds a better chance to flourish.
Every rat catch makes room for a bird.
Join us in protecting the natural beauty of Waikanae for future generations.
