How to get the best results out of your trapping

Note

  • Open the trap by lifting the wire frame at the rear of the trap.
  • Slide the double traps out. Remove any catches from the trap. If the traps are empty, use a sock or soft item to set the trap off.
  • Dispose of Rodents Safely
  • No Contact Needed: The traps one-step mechanism allows for disposal without touching the rodent.
  • Seal and Dispose: Place the dead rodent in a trash bag and seal it tightly.
  • Clean the trap and box and clear the entrance way of grass.
  • Record the trap catch on your trap.nz app or in a notebook.
  • While the trap is unset, ensure that the box is level, stable and doesn’t wiggle.
  • Carry out any minor maintenance required (applying new nails or screws, securing mesh ends).
  • Make sure entrance ways are smooth and free of any obstacles
  • Change the lure in the traps, use lures such as peanut butter or mayonnaise. Put lure at entrance to box to entice them in, and on the unset trap. Only a little is required.
  • Reset the traps. Carefully slide the traps back into the trap box, keeping it close to the back screen.
  • Scuff the ground at the trap entrances, and blaze flour lure (9 parts flour I part icing sugar) in scuff marks and on trees or fence near the trap.
  • Step back and look at the trap. Is there anything that could be better?
  • If your trap is not catching then move it to another location. Rats and mice are curious creatures and like to check out anything new.
